Meet the designers

Helen

Q. Helen what is your favourite piece of
outdoordesigns kit?
A. My Powerstretch Gloves, use them all the time, they even come out climbing with me in the summer and get used surprisingly often, oh the temperate climate of the British Isles!!!

Q. What is your most memorable use of a piece of outdoordesigns kit?
A. Using dry-bags when Canadian canoeing on Loch Tay in Scotland, it didn’t stop raining for 2 days and I thought I’d never been so cold or so wet in my life but they kept our kit bone dry and we were rewarded by seeing Osprey!

Q. If everything in the range could only be one colour, what colour would you choose?
A. PINK!! Why does everything only sell in black?

Q. If the outdoordesigns office could be anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
A. Down to Devon so I can go surfing more often!

Q. Ben what is your favourite piece of
outdoordesigns kit?
A. My favourite bit of kit is the Taku Stretch gloves. I’ve found them useful everywhere from the Peak district to the Alps. The Windpro Stretch Hardface fabric is really weather resistant, and they stay warm whilst wet.

Q. What is your most memorable use of a piece of outdoordesigns kit?
A. A Powerbalaclava is a useful campsite cooking aid – it makes a great improvised pan handle, an insulator for the gas canister in cold weather, and you can even drain your pasta through it…

Q. If money was no object what piece of kit would you design?
A. Gloves that prevent hot aches…

Q. If everything in the range could only be one colour, what colour would you choose?
A. Red

Q. If the outdoordesigns office could be anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
A. Somewhere secluded in the Swiss Alps… as long as I don’t have to commute!

Q. If money was no object what piece of kit would you design?

A. A helium balloon pack that you hold onto with a string and an EVA (Extra Vehicular activity) suit set at 25°C with a constant supply of freshly squeezed OJ  (for when the weather turns bad).

Q. If everything in the range could only be one colour, what colour would you choose?
A. Blue is the most internationally neutral and accepted colour!

Q. If the outdoordesigns office could be anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
A. Taupo Point… or Anapai Bay
(New Zealand)

Q. Oliver what is your favourite piece of
outdoor
designs kit?
A. Can’t go wrong with StretchOns.  As a designer you have to take particular care of your pinkies.

Q. What is your most memorable use of a piece of outdoordesigns kit?
A. Back in the day when OD did tents I used one ski-touring and trekking around Patagonia… good times.

Q. If money was no object what piece of kit would you design?
A. A space rocket that would get me to far away planets where the women are just like earth women except that they have three breasts (recall Total Recall!?) Oh, and where the species hasn’t squandered its planetary environment.

Q. If everything in the range could only be one colour, what colour would you choose?
A. Black – that colour always sells!

Q. If the outdoordesigns office could be anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
A. Wherever Mat says… he’s the only one who used to live in Paradise as far as I can tell, so he’ll be able to point to the exact spot!
